How to be a CEO in your business

I want to talk to you about how to be the CEO of your business.

You’ve probably been running your business for a while, maybe you’re a freelancer and you bill for your time. You may already have a virtual assistant or a social media manager, but, essentially, you think of everything as being your own.

I want you to start thinking about the change of mindset that it is to become the CEO of your business and not just it being your business.

Start thinking about your business being separate to you and you being a part of that business. Think about the mindset in which you pay yourself, as if you were an employee or a director of the business. 

It might be that you want to reinvest money. It might be that you want to pay yourself more, or you want to spend money on a mastermind, or a Virtual Assistant, or a Social Media Manager.

I want you to really think about moving away from a payroll set-up or feeling like "I'm working for the money." I want you to move into the mindset which is, "I'm stepping up. I run this business."

 Also, make sure you know your numbers. You need to know how much is coming in and how much is going out, really think about how you manage your business and not just managing your time. Ask yourself “what do I want to do with this business”? It might be that you never want it to be anything more than a very tiny thing, just you and a few people that you outsource some of the tasks too.

Think about it as a business that you are running and you are delegating. What happens if you could take yourself out of the business? The answer for most of us is we can't - I couldn't be out of my business. But how much could you be out of your business and what happens if you're not there? Because that's definitely something that I've experienced over the last 12 months. I wasn't there for a while and I didn't really earn very much, but there were some things that I could keep going in the background and make sure that I earned something during that time.

I want you to start thinking about how you become the Chief Executive, how you step up into business owner rather than just being a solopreneur, and what that might mean for you.
